U Force

Post by Professor Clayton on Tue Jun 18, 2013 2:42 pm

I was reading an old issue of Spiderman that was gathering dust under my bed, when I found a Nintendo ad I had never heard of before:

"DON'T TOUCH

Introducing U-Force™, The Revolutionary Controller For Your Nintendo Entertainment System.® So hot, no one can touch it."

It supposedly senses your movements via electronic sensors, and was produced by Broderbund®.
I think it's strange how there is a U-Force controller and now a Wii U. :O
It's also slighlty similar to the Gamepad, only in that it can sense movements (sort of like the gyro sensor, but not really).
Corny ads are the best. :3

Interesting.  I hadn't heard of that controller before.  Then again, there's probably lots of retro stuff that I'm clueless about.

Don't touch it indeed. The U-force was something way ahead of it's time (in a bad way), it barley works for some games, while other games it's plays somewhat alright, but overall, it's not worth it.

If you want to see it in action, then watch this video by the AVGN (NSFW)

He talks about the U-force at 10:27

SEGA do what Nintendon't

Introducing the completely original SEGA Activator, compatible with Genesis. It is a octagon motion sensor(placed on the ground) that was supposed to help you in fighting games. Advertising pictures show kids in Karate Kick formation using it. It was a flop, but not before SEGA coined the phrase, "You are the Controller".

@SheldonRandoms Huh, that's what I figured happened, but you never know.
I assumed it was a bad controller, but everyone lost interest as the Virtual Boy dug it's own grave. Razz
